The Challenge (Before)

When these new homeowners in Manheim purchased their home, they saw potential in the remodeling the basement but it needed significant updates. It had dated, rolled linoleum flooring, poor lighting, worn drop ceiling tiles, an unused washer and dryer area, and a small cramped bathroom. The couple wanted to create a comfortable, finished space they could use for their home-office space.

Our Approach

JT Works worked closely with the homeowners to bring their vision to life, turning a dark, outdated basement into a bright and functional extension of their home. Our team handled the entire remodel from start to finish:

• Installed new vinyl plank flooring for a clean, durable surface

• Repainted walls throughout for a refreshed, cohesive look

• Upgraded the recessed lighting to brighten and modernize the space

• Replaced the old drop ceiling with a new one, including the metal grid and tiles

• Converted the former washer/dryer area into a kitchenette, complete with:

  • New plumbing

  • Fresh cabinetry, countertops, and a sink

  • Addition of a refrigerator

• Remodeled the bathroom which included:

  • Rebuilding the interior walls due to drywall rot

  • Removing a pony wall

  • Installing a new shower, toilet, and cabinetry

The Results (After)

The once-unused basement is now a fully functional, comfortable home-office. The new lighting and flooring made the space feel twice as big, while the kitchenette and bathroom updates added practicality.
